WGAN-TV Short Story: NCTech Technical Sales Director Andrew Baddeley at the 2019 Street View Summit

---

Hi All,

For Google Street View 'Blue-Line' Capture, NCTech iSTAR Pulsar pairs with a Backpack and Roof Top car mount.

"[The photographer is] positioned underneath the camera so they're not in the shot. And with this system, you can go around trails, you could walk down streets, anywhere that a normal vehicle management system can't go ...," said NCTech Technical Sales Dr Andrew Baddeley at the 2019 Street View Summit in an interview with WGAN-TV.

"... we have a vehicle mount [that] attaches to the roof of the vehicle, very easy to set up. And this is a quick release system. So this could be in the vehicle and then you're capturing."

Hi, my name is Andrew Baddeley. I'm the technical sales director at NCTech.

I'm here at the Google Street View Summit and we're here to talk about our iSTAR Pulsar camera and you can see here it's mounted on a backpack system which allows the wearer to walk around with the camera.

They're positioned underneath the camera so they're not in the shot. And with this system, you can go around trails, you could walk down streets, anywhere that a normal vehicle management system can't go, which leads me on to the next product.

[Dan Smigrod: (Off-Camera): Before you go on, what else do we see here?]

Oh yeah. So here we have the battery and then we have cable running up to the unit itself. And then this is our custom carbon fiber mount, the lock system, and that just allows that to be positioned directly above the wearer's head. So that's the backpack.

Over here, now we have a vehicle mount and this is magnetic feet. So this attaches to the roof of the vehicle, very easy to set up. And this is a quick release system. So this could be in the vehicle and then you're capturing.

And then when you're done, you just release that and off it comes. There it goes, take that off there, there we go. Pop that off and then when you're ready to continue capturing, just put it back on, lock it down.

So in addition to the magnetic feet, we also do clamps. So if you have roof bars with crossbars, you can clamp it to the vehicle. But this makes it a very swift and easy system to deploy.

So that's it. Two systems to use and transport iSTAR Pulsar; either vehicle mount for roads or backpack when you want to go off on the trails or on the street.

And that's it from NCTech and the [2019] Google Street View Summit.
